You know your having a good night at work when a drunk guy comes in about an hour before you close, saunters over to one of your counters and then grabs a $1600 espresso machine and then runs out the door, yelling, "SEE YA!".

It's things like that that make me love the holidays in retail.

I really like that I got two Lawren Harris paintings come up on the first try. And one of my most favourite Salvador Dali paintings!

I can't believe how fast summer has slipped by. My vacation has came and went. We were lucky enough to sneak back to Ontario for a couple of weeks of family time with the in laws. It was nice. We didn't do a whole lot except hang around by the various pools.

Mallory's fifth birthday is rapidly approaching. She was having quite the dilemma whether to have a party or to do a big family outing like we did last year. After waffling back and forth she's finally decided to have the outing. I secretly feel special that she's chosen to spend her day with us, rather than with a bunch of her friends. And, I know that I have many years of wild, friend birthday parties to come.

I was looking for a particular album to download the other day and I happened upon this collection someone had put together of the songs the Rolling Stone rated as the "Top 500", in 2005. I thought, what the heck, and I downloaded it. I will admit that at least 60% of them I've heard before and know all the words too. Especially anything before 1980. What can I say, i'm well versed in the classics of rock and roll. I am curious about some of their choices though; Smells Like Teen Spirit, by Nirvana, yes. Desolation Road, by Bob Dylan, yes. Rock Lobster by the B-52's, not so much. At least not for me anyway.

Oh and look one of my most favourite songs just came on, A Change is Gonna Come, by Sam Cooke. I can't even describe how much I adore Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. Fantasmic as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway I guess I will end this mismashed post with a picture I took at the Aquarium the other day. I really like how this one turned out.

So I've lost my wallet. Cuz i'm a fucking idiot. *UUUUUUUUURRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH* Maybe someone will return it, but likely not. FUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

In other news, I'm re-watching the first season of Kids in the Hall from start to finish and i've realized, some of my favourite sketches are in this season.

It was my Mum's birthday on saturday. We had a nice dinner and visit. Mallory was so excited for my mum to open her presents, it was so cute. And she's finally gotten old enough that she doesn't give away what they are before she opens them.

My sister attached one of those colourful ribbon bunches to her gift bag and as soon as my mum opened the present, Mal immediately went around trying it on everyone's heads.

Here's a picture of my lovely dog Ben, who is old (11) but tolerates the whims of my cute little girl. )

It was good times and really good chocolate cake.

So this camera arrived for me in the mail today. It was expensive, but I sold some of my Starbucks stock to buy it. I got the body, two new lenses, and the most rocking lowepro bag ever. I was so sick of having the bulky side rectangular bag. Inconvient and annoying.

The only downside now is the battery. Yes, I have this beautiful new camera and I have to wait a full two hours before the battery charges and I can try it out. I bought some CR2 batteries to use while the lithium battery charged but I neglected to realize i had to have the nikon battery case thing for them to be of any use to me. Oh well. In two hours, I'm going to have some serious fun.

I saw Brokeback Mountain last night. What a wonderful movie. It was so incredibly sad, but really really well done. I couldn't imagine being that in love with someone but unable to let myself be with them.

It really was fantastic. I've always been been a fan of Ang Lee and I love Annie Proulx so I had a feeling it was going to be well made.

Totally worth the drive to Coquitlam. :)

just posting because I love gob.

Gob's chicken dance makes me want to shoot milk out of my nose. I can't imagine a better way to spend a new years eve than watching an AD marathon. :D

My living room looks like it was invaded by the wrapping paper monster. Everyone is fairly well and Mal loves all her stuff. Not much more you can ask than that.

Hope your day is filled with merriment and turkey. :)

So to go along with my frantic christmas knitting, i've downloaded a bunch of christmas movies to watch on my laptop. It's the only thing keeping me going.

So far i've seen:

-It's A Wonderful Life
-A Christmas Story
-Elf

I've still got to go:

-A Nightmare Before Christmas
-Santa Claus: The Movie
-Christmas With the Cranks (yea i haven't seen this one yet, but I thought, what the hell!)

Now I wish I could get my hands on "One Magic Christmas". And i've got the Alastir Sim version of A Christmas Carol, and both Grinches to watch on my TV.

Oh and I watched the entire season of Veronica Mars.

I've currently got three scarves on the needles and I've finished two scarves and one hat. The most frequent thing i'm making is a long skinny scarf made from %100 hand painted silk yarn. Hopefully all the ladies on my christmas list like my slavery!

Here's a sample of one of the girly scarves )

Rest in peace, John. The world has been a poorer place without your voice.

Everytime I end up watching a bunch of Red Dwarf in a row, I have to make some kind of curry.

I think Lister and I share the same three taste buds.

From Demons and Angels:

KRYTEN: These are our higher selves. They are the people we could have
become if all the negative aspects of our characters were removed.
RIMMER: You mean hippies.
KRYTEN: With respect, sir, you think Jesus was a hippy.
RIMMER: Well, he was. He had long hair; he didn't have a job. What more
do you want?

In case anyone cares...

After the whole IME site went down, Travis actually convinced Mike to reboot the whole thing. Which means, the board is back.

I just finished this collage. It's all pictures of Booby. It was fun to do and it reminded me how much fun she had in her life. I'm going to get it printed out and framed. I still can't believe she's gone.

Sometimes living in a small town really sucks. I so want to see this documentary but I doubt it will play anywhere near me!

I just love penguins. I was getting all teary eyed watching the little clips of them. *sigh*
